Carmen Marianna Davila was born Nov. 17 1957 in Seattle Washington. Her mother was Barbara Jean Kendrick (nee Thomas), and her father was Carmello Davila. During her youth she went by the name Carmen Kendrick, after her step father, and changed her name in adulthood to Davila. She attended Muir and McGilvra Elementary Schools in Seattle and was very bright, her IQ registering at 120 in 6th grade. She spent a couple of years in California, skipping a grade upon return to Seattle. There she attended Eckstein Jr. High, and Roosevelt High Schools, in the graduating class of 1975. She moved to Columbus Ohio in the early 1980's. Carmen received a Bachelors in Business Management from Franklin University in 1986. She worked in business and finance. She did not marry or have children. She passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
Carmen is fondly remembered for her zestful and adventurous spirit, her love of children (such as her several nieces and nephews), her humor and brilliance, her inner strength, her ability to bring warmth to any group, and to connect with every kind of person. Her effervescent personality drew many other people out of their shells, and she encouraged them to express themselves and enjoy life. She loved others deeply and intensely. She also loved music, dance, food, motorcycles, camping, nature, and people. Sadly, she left a big hole in the lives of those close to her when she left this world for the next. Carmen is remembered with love and affection by her sister, Jeannen Billups Pridgeon of Atlanta, and friends including her first long true love, Gene Myers of Bellingham, Washington.
