Charles George Melvin, 91, passed peacefully in his sleep, September 8, 2011. He was born April 29, 1920, in Maryville, Tennessee, to the late Tom Melvin and Julia ?Seiverson? Melvin. Charles is preceded by loving wife, Ruby ?Stallworth? Melvin; son, Willie George; Siblings, John, William, and Minnie. He grew up in Castleberry, Alabama where he met his wife Ruby Stallworth . Charles and Ruby were united in holy matrimony January 1940. To this union were born seven children. A gifted person with many God given skills, Charles learned carpentry and auto repair. He helped his father build his childhood place of worship, where he regularly attended with his parents. As an adult, Charles rededicated his life to Christ and lived his remaining years as a born - again believer. A World War 2 veteran, Charles served his country as an apprentice seaman in the Untied States Navy, where after two years and seven months of service, he received an Honorable Discharge. Upon leaving the military, in the year 1946, Charles settled in Holden, West Virginia and became a coal miner. In the Year 1951, he relocated his family to Columbus, Ohio and went to work as an aircraft draftsman for the North American Rockwell Aviation. Charles prided himself as a good parent and provider. Being a family man of strong work ethics, in addition to working a full time job at North American, he operated his own auto repair business. On Thursday, September 8, 2011, Charles entered into peaceful rest with his Lord and Savior. He leaved beautiful memories with his children, Bayrone Melvin, Hattie Hutchins, Sherrie Hardy, Patricia Joseph O?Flaherty McGowan, Bonnie Robert Sessley, Gwendolyn Thomas; grandchildren, Regina Ibanez, Leonadra Phillip Sessley, Roshanna Hardy, Levi McGowan Jr., Leila Harrison, Kineta Christian Peebles, Bobbi Sessley, Robert Dawn Sessley Jr., Charles Sessley, Phermine Brandon Abbott, Tehani Rodney Desotelle, Lori, Lalonee, and Seth Thomas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice George Thompson, Barbara Robert Story Frye; cousin Inez John Head; and many other family members and friends.
