Evangelist Christine McCurdy Riggins was born November 4, 1942, to the late Dorothy Elizabeth (Pringle) McCurdy and the late Ernest J. McCurdy of Middletown, Ohio. Christine went home to be with Jesus on August 12, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio. Christine was a very lively and outgoing person. She played piano and did a bit of tap dancing in her youth. Christine grew up and attended school in Lincoln Heights, Ohio until the eleventh grade but graduated from Taft High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Christine was very active in serving God and very generous in her giving. She worked very hard to make sure she could provide for her children. She retired from AC/Delco of Dayton, Ohio. Christine had two sisters, one brother, and a grandson who preceded her transition: Arnita McCurdy, elder sister; Ernestine McCurdy, twin sister; Ernest J. McCurdy, brother; and King J.E.B. Jones, grandson.
For nearly forty years Evangelist Christine was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Clayton Waller, Sr. in Lincoln Heights, Ohio, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She also served at the Unity Church in Columbus, Ohio, where she shared her talent for songwriting and playwriting.
Christine is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Riggins, and her children: Marva Lisa (Clarence Marvin) Reynolds, eldest daughter; Jeffery David Jones, her son; Natasha J. (Leon) Jones-McDougle, daughter; and Jametris C. Simmons, the youngest daughter, and loving caretaker for several years. She is also survived by her grandsons, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren: Julian Maurice (Jessica) Reynolds, Ethan Antwain (Emma) Reynolds, Clarence Marvin "Trae" (Alexis) Reynolds III; Loren Michael Reynolds, Jamal West, Zion House, Jayden Simmons, Kourtney Anette Reynolds, Kristian Marie Jones, Natasha "Tasha" Jean Jones, Jefrea Jones, Peri Alexandra McDougle, Autumn Synclair McDougle, Micah Julian Reynolds, (Leonardo), Kamarian J. G. Reynolds, and Garen Alexander Reynolds.
Christine had a great way of getting life lessons taught every day to her children and the many surrounding her. She had an infectious laugh that would make you laugh with her. She will be greatly missed and has cherished memories by so many others including, Doris Richardson, Beverly Barnes, Princess Carter, Amberlea R. Jones, Patricia Holland, Sherri Adams, Jacquelyn Hatch Howard and family, and Susan Taylor and family.
The family is requesting friends and family to come to Edwards Funeral Service, 1166 Parsons Avenue, Columbus, Ohio on August 22th, 2022 for Christine's memorial service from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
