Dale, Dwayne Wilson, 88, went to the land of the living on November 13, 2024, from his home in Grove City, Ohio. He was born in East Monroe, Highland County, Ohio, to Ernest and Ocie Wilson. After attending New Vienna High School, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1953. He distinguished himself as a Gunners Mate. Due to his weapons expertise, he served on many ships at the request of their captain. He served in Vietnam aboard the Destroyer, USS Eaton. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After 16 years of sea duty, he was assigned as a Navy Nurse Recruiter in Columbus, Ohio, and was recognized for his successes. He was decorated and honorably discharged after 20 years of service. He continued employment at Columbus Coated Fabrics where he retired. Dale loved his family, neighbors, westerns, guns, hunting, fishing, camping, and the outdoors. He loved the Buckeyes, his pick up truck, and a cold beer. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, American Legion, DAV, Moose, and the NRA. He was a member of First Baptist Church Grove City, Ohio. He loved his church, pastors, deacons, and many friends. His faith in Jesus brought him through many perilous times, including being nearly washed overboard. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia, his beloved daughters, Jeri, (her husband Carl Zealer whom he loved as a son), Tami Polk and Tonda Wilson, his beloved sister, Becky Jones, 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Steve Wilson. A graveside service will be held at Clinton County Memory Gardens in Wilmington, Ohio, at a later date.
