Gerald “Chilly” Ray Taber, Columbus, OH was born November 24, 1950 in Selma, California. He is survived by his wife Toni Kapek-Taber, a daughter Samantha Taber-Plummer (Kenny) of South Bloomfield, OH and a son Johnnie Taber (Susie) of Plain City, OH. In addition, he is survived by his 5 grandsons and a granddaughter: Colton Taber, Kenton Plummer, Jonathan Taber, Kason Plummer, Jaxen Taber, and Skylar Kapek, three brothers, John Taber (Billie), Steve Taber (Sue) , Alton Taber(Jennifer) and two sisters, Janice Taber-Bear (Jerry) and Evelyn Taber. A sister in law, Tammy Kapek and brother in law, Tim Kapek and numerous nieces and nephews, Andrea Hebert, William Shannon, Aiden Hebert and Anthony Kapek.
He was preceded in death by his father Johnnie Taber, mother Mary Rosebell Taber, his daughter Valerie Lee Taber, a brother Rocky Taber and nephew Richard Kapek.
LCPRL Gerald R. Taber was a proud Marine Vietnam Veteran and was active in the VFW, AMVETS and American Legion. He was a career truck driver, he spent 35 years behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler traveling all over the country. During his career he drove for JB Hunt, PD Express and most recently for Silvan Trucking.
Gerald loved college basketball and football, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes.
