Ida B. Smith

Ida B Smith, 69, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in Columbus OH after a lengthy illness. Ida was the second oldest of seven children born April 19, 1944 in Columbus OH to the late Howard Lee and Hattie Belle Medley. Ida and her family moved from West Virginia to Delaware OH in 1959. While living in Delaware, she met and married Charles Smith and god blessed this union with three children. After moving to Columbus, she became employed with the Ohio Department of Developmental Services. After 23 years of service, she retired in 2003. Ida enjoyed playing pool and taking cruises. She was extremely dedicated to her family and was very well known for her nurturing and caring ways. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, David Medley, Howard Medley, Jr. and one sister, Viola Bradley. Ida is survived by three daughters - Jacqueline Smith, Hope Smith, and Sherrie Smith all of Columbus OH; three brothers - Robert Casey Medley Carolyn, Charles Medley Cheryl, and Stratton Medley all of Columbus OH; grandchildren - Sherritta Smith Joshua Williams, Jaylin Smith, and Sloane Allison all of Columbus OH; great-grandchildren - Aniyah Williams, Joshua Williams, Christina Williams, and Nidale Williams; and special niece - Roberta Monroe. Funeral services will be held at 6 pm Wednesday October 2, 2013 at Edwards Funeral Home, 1166 Parsons Ave., Columbus OH. Family will accept friends from 5 pm until service begins.
