John W. VanSickle

John William VanSickle departed this life  on Sept. 23, 2021 at Tidwell Hospice, Sarasota, Fl. John was  91 years old.   Born in Apple Grove, WV He was retired from General Motors, where he put together seat adjusters.  Post retirement, he drove semi trucks and worked with his backhoe.  John was living at American House Sarasota, FL where he often took people on rides with his golf cart,  helped with the community garden, and would spend time shooting pool with friends.   He never met a stranger and he welcomed everyone who moved to American House with open arms.  He encouraged everyone and even though he had many health issues, he was always joyful and never complained.  John loved to travel during his life.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his sister Ernestine Blake, Columbus;  daughter Sue (John) Cannistra, Sarasota; son Roger VanSickle, Columbus:  grandchildren

Michelle Embrey, Newark;  Amy (James) Cryan, San Carlos California;  Matthew (Lisa) Hartman Hood River, Oregon; Allyson (Garrett)

Lynch, Long Island City, New York; Andrea Cannistra, St.Petersburg, FL; Meghan Cannistra (Dan) Gardon; Charlotte, NC;  great grandchildren, Logan, Micaiah & Ethan Embrey & Madison Hartman and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by the love of his life Charlotte and son Doug,  parents John and Mary VanSickle and siblings Isaac, Marvin, Charles, Foster, Magdaline St Clair, Marcena Denny,  Henry, Ruby Sheets, Worthy, Josephine, Naomi Sines, James and Lee.
