Markham Lewis Barrett

Markham Lewis Barrett was born July 27, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the second of six children born to the late Lewis Hubbard and Daisy Crystabell Barrett. He departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Markham received his formal education at Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Linden McKinley High School in June, 1979. After graduating he was employed by American Electric Power. In 1981 Markham was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ Apostolic Faith. He was then married to Sherry L. Smith from April, 1981 until July, 2000 and from this union two children were born. In 1994 Markham relocated to Los Angeles, California where he received a certificate in welding. Upon his return to Columbus he was employed by Columbus Steel also known as Buckeye Steel. ?Skinny? as he was affectionately known, loved his children who meant the world to him. He was a kind person who loved to keep you smiling and laughing with is great sense of humor. Markham was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Hubbard and Daisy Crystabell Barrett. He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Markham Ryan Smith of Inglewood, California, one daughter, Maleaha Renee Barrett of Hawthorne, California; three sisters, Lisa Williams, Angela Barrett, and Ragina Gray, all of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Charlton Barrett of Columbus, Ohio and Efrem Barrett of Atlanta, Georgia. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A service will be held Monday at 6 PM, at the chapel of Edwards Funeral Service, 1166 Parsons Ave, where family will receive friends from 5 PM until time of service.
