Nancy Cunningham Warden Johnson, age 95, died September 8, 2011, at home in New Albany, Ohio. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on November 29, 1915, Nancy was the daughter of Buford and Inez Warden. She graduated in 1937 with a BA in English and Journalism from Southwestern College now Rhodes College in Memphis where she served as secretary of the Student Body, was president of the Chi Omega Sorority, and was voted Miss Southwestern. In 1941, Nancy married her college sweetheart Curtis F. Johnson 1915-1999 and moved to Refuge Plantation, Midnight, Mississippi, where Curtis was a Delta cotton planter for 50 years. Nancy was a member of Central College Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years Curtis, infant son Curtis Jr., and daughter Nancy Victoria Johnson. Nancy is survived by son David W. Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas, daughter Mary Elizabeth Johnson Johnston David of New Albany, Ohio, grandson Bruce C. Hodges of Suttons Bay, Michigan, granddaughter Nancy Elizabeth Cordell Robert of Gahanna, Ohio, and two great-grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Hodges and Ethan Curtis Cordell. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Clarksdale, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
