Peggy Winefred Dawson was born December 26, 1934, in Asheville, North Carolina, the daughter of Milton G. Rosemond and Willie M. Rosemond. She was a graduate of East High School. She then attended beauty school, where she received her licensure as a cosmetologist in the state of Ohio. Later in her career, she worked at Federal Glass for over 15 years, up until the closing of the plant. Afterwards, she began her tenure at Pressware International, from which she retired.
Peggy was a genuine, loving, and caring person, an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. Truly an original, she was one of a kind. She personified generosity, humbleness, meekness; and without hesitation, she helped those in need. Serving as a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, she was a volunteer at Vacation Bible School and a Host of Hostesses. Though she’s no longer present in physical form, her memory will not be forgotten.
Blessed with eighty-eight years of life, Mrs. Peggy W. Dawson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Dawson; parents, Milton G. and Willie M. Rosemond; son, Aaron Andrews, Jr.; grandsons, Michael T. Dawson and Marquell R. Andrews; great-great-grandson, Makhy R. L. Andrews; and brother, William R. Rosemond.
Peggy is survived by her loving family: devoted sons, Anthony (Rebecca) Andrews, Shawn Dawson, and Michael Dawson; daughters, Vanessa Watkins and Veronica Andrews; grandchildren, Monica Andrews, Anthony Andrews, Terri (Robert) Skipper, Tameika Andrews, Robert (Tami) Watkins, Rosalind (Roshawn) Parker, Thomas Andrews, Travis (Chante) Andrews, Marquisha Andrews, Shantel (Chris) Williamson, Toyisha Bing, Au-Juvan Andrews, and Marvin Lee Groves Jr.; many great grandchildren; including special great grandchildren, Shanique Andrews, Michael D. Dawson, and Michael T. Dawson; many cousins; special friends Ruth M. Haslett, Inez Harris, and Shirley Smith.
Memories will reside in our hearts, where her light will forever shine. Though our hearts are filled with sorrow and grief, rest now I say, fully assured that Peggy has endured the race faithfully and has been called home to RECEIVE HER CROWN.
