Philip Van Dignan, Sr., peacefully passed away November 28, 2016, at age 79. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 8, 1937, Philip attended the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind (St. Augustine), where he graduated in 1957; he worked first as a printer and was later involved in the Baptist deaf ministry. He is survived by his son, Philip Van Dignan, Jr. (and fiancAC. Larcena Sorensen); daughter, Nelda Dignan Knapik (and husband Richard) and granddaughter Victoria Alexis Knapik; brother, Arthur Grant Dignan (and wife Joyce); and many other beloved family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Jacksonville's Murray Hill Baptist Church, Monday, December 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in Philip Dignan's memory. Donations may be sent to:
