Ronald Lee Purdy, 58, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away in Columbus, OH on February 1, 2014 after an 18-yr battle with Huntington's disease. Ron was born in Ft. Wayne, IN on June 18, 1955 to Robert and Lorraine Purdy. He graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City in 1973. He received a bachelor's degree from Utah State University, a master's degree from Brigham Young University, and a law degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Ron served in the Army for 11 years and finished his career with the Department of Veteran's Affairs.
Ron loved music, playing the piano, reading the scriptures, running, playing golf, and most of all, family time. He loved serving in the church and served as a Bishop while stationed at Edwards AFB, California.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Robert, Roger, and Roy. He is survived by his wife, Nanette Purdy, six children - Jared Purdy, Margo Smith, Nicole Kelly, Mallory Fielding, Marcus Meteer, and Meryn Palmer - and 21 grandchildren.
Services will be held February 5, 2014 at 12:00 at the LDS Chapel at 7135 Coffman Rd in Dublin, OH. A graveside service will be held at Valley View Memorial Cemetery in West Valley City, UT on February 7, 2014 at 2:00.
