Thomas C. Meier, 71 passed away early Monday morning, Jan 13th, 2025, at home with his wife Sheri, son Paul, and dog Stitch at his side.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Walter and Margaret Meier, the son in love of Don and Betty Smith, and Barbara (Chick) Thomas. Tom is survived by his wife, Sheri, sharing 32 years of marriage; his two sons, Thomas W (Tommy) and Paul C Meier; faithful companions Stitch and Rueben; his brother Brad Meier; father and mother-in-love, Don and Betty Smith; brothers-in-love Brent Thomas (Linda), Travis Thomas (Nicole), Shane Thomas (Angie), and Kevin (Angie) Smith; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Laura, brother Doug, and father-in-love Larry Thomas. He loved and adored them all.
Tom was a retired plumber and proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 189. He spent many good years working for Sauer Group and Guenther Mechanical. Prior to joining Local 189, Tom spent many years as a self-employed contractor.
Tom spent many years actively involved with Fairfield Youth Baseball and Softball, including coaching Paul's baseball teams and serving as Co-President. He was proud of his sons and attended as many of their events as he could. Tom will be remember for his love, loyalty, stubbornness, and willingness to do what needed to be done for whoever asked. Tom was also known for his love of the guitar, PBS Nature, fishing, and THE Ohio State University Buckeye football.
There will be a celebration of life reception called Tom's Last Tailgate on Saturday, January 18th, at the Barn at the Lucky Farm, 9368 Borror Road, Orient, OH 43146. The reception will be held from 2-6 pm. Wearing of Ohio State gear is encouraged for whenever and however long you join us, and a more intimate celebration for closer family members and friends will be from 6-8pm. Go Bucks, win the CFP for Tom!
