Verna "Verna Jean" Albert Rees, age 86 passed away Saturday January 19, 2013. Survived by her husband of 66 years Jack, her 3 children Pam Tim Merkle, Jeff Carol, Jackie Doug; 6 grandchildren Ashley, Dustin, Danie Corey Hallion, Tyler, Lauren Robert Beckner and Tucker. Preceded in death by parents Peter & Rose Albert and brothers Paul & Ralph. Graduate of Columbus South HS '44. Throughout the years she participated in basketball, softball, volleyball and bowling. Lover of golf, member of Little Turtle Golf Club since 1977, wine lover and originator of the term "Grandma Pour". Avid OSU and grandkid sports fan. We will all miss her competitive spirit and fierce Scrabble skills. She will be eternally loved and missed by family and dear friends. Verna was an original parishioner of St. Elizabeth parish. On Thursday, Jan 24 the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Paul Noble at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 6077 Sharon woods Blvd. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to The Columbus Foundation 1234 E Broad St. Columbus, OH 43205 c/o Jack Rees Foundation.
